Three Coalition members attend New England School of Prevention

New Executive Committee members are elected at the First Annual
Coalition meeting and awards ceremony
Spring, 2003
Coalition cosponsors Radio Challenge 2003, a contest for youth
groups to create effective anti-alcohol/tobacco/drug public
service announcements, which air on WJYY 105.5 FM

Funding for an after school program is sought in collaboration
with eight local agencies and the Rundlett Middle School

The Capital Area Tobacco Free Coalition merges with the
Coalition
Dec, 2002
The Coalition co-hosts Prime For Life series training, where
Coalition members are trained as Prime For Life instructors.
This effort launches the main prevention program of the
Coalition.

Guest speaker initiative brings an educational component
directly to the Concord community at the quarterly Coalition
meetings

Full-time Coalition Director is hired
First Quarterly Meeting is held to prioritize Coalition’s focus and develop Coalition infrastructure

Coalition announces the five-year Drug Free Communities Support
Program grant awarded to the Coalition to further community
actions to:
- Reduce substance use and abuse among youth in Concord
- Coordinate current, and create new, prevention strategies
- Develop a community-wide education campaign

Three-year State Incentive Program grant awarded to Community
Provider Network. Grant focus:
- Mentoring (The Friends Program)
- Family & Schools Together (Family strength)
- Continue coalition development to address substance abuse in
Concord

Coalition members participate in Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities, and Threats (S.W.O.T) analysis.
Nov, 2000
The Coalition participates in the Mayor’s Ad Hoc Underage Access to
Alcohol Advisory Committee
Coalition adopts recommendations of the Committee
Coalition commits to work with the City of Concord’s initiative to
address youth substance abuse

Several Coalition members participate in the “Concord Community
Leadership Initiative” sponsored by New Futures.
Apr, 2000
Advisory Committee formed to oversee the application for the State
Incentive Program grant.
Jan, 2000
United Way’s Needs Assessment identifies youth substance abuse as a
primary concern of the citizens of Merrimack County.
Fall, 1999
Community Provider Network adopts youth substance
abuse as a priority and invites diverse agencies to participate in
the State Incentive Program grant application process.
